With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our founder, John Dunkin, on March 23, 2025.
John founded Rogue Valley Door in 1985 with a clear mission: to craft the best custom wood doors in America, using the finest materials and the most skilled hands. With deep roots in Southern Oregon and a lifelong respect for wood and craftsmanship, John built more than a business—he built a legacy of excellence.
Under his leadership, the company grew into the largest American-made solid wood door manufacturer, trusted by building professionals and design experts alike. His vision shaped every part of our operation—from the care we take in design, to the integrity behind every customer relationship.
John was more than an entrepreneur. He was a father, a coach, a community leader and a friend. He coached baseball, served on local boards, and always believed in lifting others up. And he never lost sight of the people behind the products—his employees, partners, and customers.
He ensured that Rogue Valley Door would remain privately held and family owned, and he spent years preparing the leadership team for the road ahead. That team now leads the company with the same values and care John exemplified every day.
As we look to the future, we carry forward not only his name—but his standard.
